National FFA Convention

The National FFA Convention is the world's largest in school youth convention. The first convention was held in 1928, in Kansas City, MO. After a 70 year relationship with Kansas City, the convention moved to Louisville, KY.  In 2003, the convention hit an all time high of 51,338 attendees. Members, advisors, guests, and supporters were dazzled by renowned know speakers, laser shows, National FFA Officer retiring addresses, business sessions and entertainment by the National FFA Band, Chorus, and Talent. The event also included a Hall of States, which promotes states and their unique agricultural products, a Career Show, FFA Shopping Mall and a variety of foods at the Food Court. In 2006, the convention moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where it will remain until 2011.

The following are the locations and dates of the convention for the next four years:
  • Indianapolis, IN - October 22-25, 2008
  • Indianapolis, IN - October 21-24, 2009
  • Indianapolis, IN - October 20-23, 2010
  • Indianapolis, IN - October 19-22, 2011
This memorable event also includes the National FFA Career Development Events and workshops that are conducted by former National and State FFA Officers. These workshops help to assist students in setting goals, developing a team spirit, time management, and leadership to name a few. Basically, the convention offers something for everyone. It is one of the greatest learning experience an FFA member, advisor, and school administrator could have in just a few short days.
